After coming back from dinner at Beau Rivage and sharing we were impressed with the food, but not the service, they quickly said we had to eat at Fourways. It was on our list so we made reservations. I have to say were were disappointed after last nights meal. The food was ok, but the servers were noting but bus boys. When we asked any details about the food that we had been served they couldn’t tell us anything about it.
I went for the chefs special appetizer. A caribbean lobster with a citrus chutney and a balsamic glaze. the lobster was nice, nothing special but nice.
Richard went for tuna as a started. The tuna was pretty much tasteless and the only real flavor came form the fennel below. It took awhile, but we finally were told the fennel was soaked mostly orange juice with a bit of lemon.
My main was nice as well, I went for a local fish with a fried banana served with a potato cake and avocado sauce. The fish was once again fairly tasteless. The first few bites with the fried banana were lovely, however there was not enough banana to go with the fish.
Finally desert came around, the restaurant is known for their soufflé and it was good. Nothing amazing, but good. I went for strawberry and Richard had the dark and stormy.
Overall it was an interesting experience. It probably didn’t help we were sat next to a couple with a small child and the restaurant was busy, but we just expected more. Would we go back- probably not.
