Sunday Adventures

We got up this morning and did some hiking in Cayman… you know we have to break our boots in for the Grand Canyon hike!  It was nice and we got about 5 miles in…  that would put us about 1/2 way down the canyon!

After our hike we stopped in at Over the Edge for breakfast and some ocean views.  It is probably the best value on island as our total bill was $14.50CI for breakfast for 2!

Now after a little rugby it is off for lunch with Rob and Michelle at Catch.  We have heard quite a few negative comments on the place, but we have yet to give it a try.  I have to say you can’t beat the views… especially when so many people are snowed in now!

Long travel day

The day started out great with a relaxing morning at home, followed by an early arrival in Miami… That is when it all went wrong.  When I arrived at the gate there were tons of kids all over the place (as expected with a flight to Orlando). However a key item was missing, our plane. Eventually the plane is pulled out of the maintenance hanger. Turns out the lock on a door was broken. Unfortunately they had the plane fueled for a long flight and with our short flight we would be too heavy to land. So they called the fuel truck to take some of it off. We waited patiently- even most of the kids. However they failed to realize by taking all the fuel from one side the plane would be off balance. So the fuel supervisor had to be called to figure out how to solve the situation…  After some discussion it was decided that we should get off the plane while they figured this out.  I made my way to let them know I was just going to drive as it is only 3 hours… But there was another flight leaving in 45 minutes with space, so we decided that was my best option… Only problem was I was still listed in the computer as sitting on the plane with the fuel issues…  What to do now?  We call down to the gate for them to say they have sorted the fuel and are going to be re-boarding. However by the time I get back to the gate it is completely crazy with a mob of people at the counter and clearly they are not re-boarding.

So I decided to wait it out and eventually get back on the plane to Orlando. We do arrive- only 4 hours late.  Then starts the que for othe rental cars…
As I said a long day of travel to only make it to Orlando!
The joys of travel!

So I haven’t really posted much… no good reason why either!

We went to Kansas City to help celebrate Andrew’s 40th birthday and had lovely weather.  After the party we headed down to Big Cedar Lodge for the weekend…  they had the most  amazing driving range!
