Manifesto

Manifesto is a small cocktail bar that takes the approach to make drinks with only the finest spirits and freshest ingredients.  The bar only holds 48 people and you have to make reservations to get a seat.  They made amazing drinks…  there is no reason for Andrew to be running out the door!

The rules on the menu:

No screaming into your cell phone.  Enjoy your present company.

Buy your friend a drink. Buy a stranger a drink.  Chivalry is not dead.

If you’re using a flashlight, please turn it off.  Our staff will be happy to shed some light on the menu for you.  Enjoy the ambience.
Civility is not a sign of weakness.  Be kind to each other, and be strong in your convictions.
Relax and have a good time.  We may have fancy cocktails, but we’re just a good old fashioned neighborhood bar.

Kansas City

We arrived in Kansas City and got our rental car right on time without any issues…  when we got to Andrew and Laura’s house they had the grill ready for some burgers.  We followed it up with some nice tea by the fire and made some s’mores.  A great start to the weekend.

Friday I got up early and went to the gym.  It was the second time I have been to the gym by their house and so I went early and did some toes to bar and double unders before class at 7.  I was a little worried as they had a class on the hour from 6 am until 6 pm… so I thought maybe the gym was going to be really busy.  However there were only 2 of us in the class.  We did Nancy-  I actually did all 5 rounds at 55 lb, so I was really happy.
After some breakfast with Laura we headed out to get a new mattress at Nebraska Furniture Mart- that place is huge!  We got a map to ensure we didn’t get lost.  Surprisingly 30 minutes later we were done… and off to the plaza for some shopping before lunch with Gary.  Of course there was some more shopping after lunch, a few drinks with friends and then a great dinner with everyone.
Unfortunately we woke up this morning to rain… and it doesn’t look like it is going to stop anytime soon.  So I was a bit lazy and decided to blog vs. head to the gym!

Travel to KC

Travel Day

Our flights were really good and on time… the only problem was in the Miami airport.  We had a 4 hour layover and were going to leave the airport, but at the last minute we changed our mind.  Richard’s back was sore and so we were going to go for a massage/pedicure after getting some Starbucks.  When we got to the spa they only had time for a massage and I was going to have to wait 30 minutes for a pedicure.  So I went over and stood in the massive line for a tea from Starbucks.  There was a lady behind me that kept creeping up and eventually just cut in line in front of me so I was not happy.  After being in line about 15 minutes and still not near the counter the spa came and told me that they could do my pedicure, so I left the line.  As we got back into the spa they told me that they were going to let someone go in front of me even though I was next in line because she was getting both a manicure and pedicure.  I was not happy and went back to Starbucks as I still didn’t have my tea…this time there were 37 people in line in front of me.  As I was 3 people from the counter to order they came and said if I left then they could do my pedicure…  I said no thank you as I am not leaving this line again so they can let someone go in front of me and I then have to go to the back of the line again.  They seemed shocked I didn’t want my pedicure!  By the time I got my tea Richard had a lovely reflexology and back massage and was nice and relaxed…  I on the on the other hand was not!

Richard and Avery

This is what I hear last night when Richard is upstairs with Avery.
“Good job you went poo”
“No, no, no don’t stand in you poo”
“Oh please don’t play with your poo”
“Please don’t play with your poo”
“You have poo all over your leg”
I did eventually go up and help after I had a good laugh downstairs!

An active kitty

Avery really doesn’t understand the concept of relaxing…  I don’t think she is much of an island cat.   She has recently cut back on her sleeping and looks for new places to go and things to do most of the time.

At least for now she can’t get on my desk or above the first shelf on the bookcase, but I am sure that will all end by the end of the week!
At least she has a few favorite toys that I can use to keep her occupied while I try and get work done!

Avery at six weeks

So Avery is now six weeks old.  It is hard to believe we have only had her for a week as she has changed so much!

Today we got her a new toy as she is really starting to climb everything!  Richard did a great job putting it all together.
Yabbey is keeping an eye on her and making sure she stays in line…
