Day 4
It is hard to believe it is already day 4. Today was a great day! I did the short version which was about 5 miles.
You can see the ridge road we finished on. I was lucky and didn’t have to hike up to it like the others! I just got to enjoy it from the top.
I did take a selfie, which I hate doing but I was all on my own.
My afternoon is going to involve a nap… We will see about anything else!
Day 3
Well day 3 started ok and I felt fine, but that didn’t last long. I hiked 5.5 miles mostly up hill. The first mile or so hurt, but just as my legs were tired. Unfortunaly it just got worse and it was the worst feeling ever. I just didn’t have anything in me and picking up my feet took 110% effort everytime.
I got to the break point cold (shivering) and tired. I just did not have anything left at that point. Unfortunately when I tried to talk all I could do was cry. Not sure why… They gave me some dry clothing I think I had on three tops and two pairs of pants. I sat in the front seat with the seat warmer in high for a good 30 minutes.
So I wasn’t able to finish the hike. It was a little over 9 miles. After getting back having a nice hot shower, some lunch and a massage I started to feel better!
Then I had 2 hous I the gym and yoga before bed! We have another 9-10 miles to hike in the morning.
Morning of day 2
Wide awake at 3 am- I am done sleeping I have to say. However I am not sure I can spend another 2 1/2 hours in my tiny room!
They told us to make ourselves at home, but I feel like I am at someone else’s home and I am afraid I would wake someone up.
This morning we have a 10 mile hike, mostly up hill. So I really should try and get some more rest.
I hear footsteps outside my door- I think someone else is up. I am going to go investigate.
Day 1
I know I shouldn’t say this, but today wasn’t too bad. But I am feeling more confident in myself now that I am here.
We were picked up at noon and headed up to the hills. Got checked in and then went for about a 2 mile hike. Unfortunately it was all up hill- but I did fine and didn’t have any issues. We came back and did an hour of yoga then had a nice salad for dinner.
They briefed Monday and we do have a 10 mile hike in the morning once again up hill.
I took a nice shower now it is time for bed. I have a small but comfy room and it is really nice to be laying in bed with nothing but the sounds of nature (frogs I think).
5:30 wake up call, so I need to get some sleep!
Long flight
How lucky
Good bye
Next Challenge
I am starting to pack up for my next challenge. I leave on Sunday and I think it may be the toughest thing I have ever attempted to do.
Here is what has been said and what I can expect everyday for the week I am there…
“Here’s a typical Ashram day: 5:45 a.m. wake-up call; 6:30 a.m. yoga; 7:30 a.m. breakfast with herbal tea. Followed by bandaging of feet, application of lip balm and sunblock, filling of water bottles, packing of carrots and celery, and a mountain hike for up to five hours. Followed by weight training, a massage, exercise in the pool, water polo, more yoga and meditation, dinner. Then a lecture or pep talk. Eight-thirty-ish, fall into bed, half dead.”
