Good and bad news

The good news is my feet are holding up amazingly well.  The bad news is somehow this morning I just twisted wrong and hurt my back.  I spent a good 3 hours on the floor as it was really the only way to minimize the pain and breath.  Turns out I have a rib out of place.  It is back now and I feel a lot better, but my back still feels pretty tender.

Hopefully it is all better in a few days!

Long week that went fast

So it was a long busy week, but it seemed to go by really fast as we are at the weekend again!

I am getting excited to hear Dana Leong tonight play at the Red Sky at Night event.  I think it will be a great night and we have really nice weather at well.

This morning it was once again up early with the cats and soon we are off to spin class and then the farmers market.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

The White House

Today we headed out towards East End and decided to have lunch at the White House.

The house was destroyed during Ivan 10+ years ago and it has recently been converted to a restaurant.  I have to say the views and deck was amazing, but the food was just ok for the price.  I started with some ceviche and Richard had some Tuna.  For our mains we both went for fish (Salmon and Grouper)- both of which were a bit overdone.

Overall it was a great spot for lunch, but probably a bit overpriced for the quality of food.

Auto renewal

The joys of Caribbean life… I guess this is my fault and I should learn not to wait until the last minute.
My car registration expires on the 16th of the month and we had my car expected last week and went to renew it on Saturday, but the line was out the door. So we decided not to wait and to I figured I would come first thing this morning. I thought well even if I had to wait at least there were chairs inside and it was air-conditioned… Well when I got here it was full inside and so I was forced to sit out in the hot sun until some chairs opened up-I was outside for a good hour.

Finally after my long wait I was allowed to go in, so I was grateful. But there were still 26 people in line in front of me… So I am not expecting the liens to move very fast as it appears there are only 2 out of 6 windows open and I have only seen 2 people get help in 30 minutes.

Every Saturday

Richard and I have been going to spin class on Saturday morning and the gym is next door to the Red Cross.  On Saturday mornings they have what appears to be a “yard sale”  where they pull the clothing out on tarps in the parking lot and you see people out digging through the piles of clothing looking for stuff for them and their families.  As I am sitting in spin class watching this go on it really makes you grateful for how lucky you are.

I think people need to think before they start to complain about their life and instead think about how amazing their life actually is.

  • Before you complain about how cold or bad the weather is.  You should be grateful you have a warm home to provide protection.  So many people are homeless and don’t have that luxury.
  • When you want to complain about your job or boss.  You should be thankful you have a job as there are people who lose their job and would love to have a job to go to everyday.
  • Especially before you start to complain about your family members.  So many people in the world have lost loved ones and would give anything to have them back.  Nobody has a perfect family- focus on the good parts of them vs. negatives.

Friday

Today was the annual special olympics golf tournament and we had and afternoon tee time, which actually started on time!  After not playing for about a year I was reasonably happy with my game. Overall we didn’t play great, but had a nice afternoon with friends!

Session 2 of pottery class

Today I had my second session for my coils pottery class.  It started out a bit rough in class as I had a lot of clean up work to do after the first week, but I think it turned out pretty good for a beginner!  Now the waiting begins…  It has to dry for about 10 days and then goes in the kiln, I hope it comes out in one piece!
