Wine tour

We had a great wine tour and one thing they said really made me think.

“We are just borrowing this land from our children, so we have to take care of it.”

I think more companies and people need to share this philosophy.

Monday morning

It is hard to believe it is Monday morning already.

We awoke to the sounds of the sheep bells in the nearby field, but as it is Monday the vineyard is starting to get active with workers arriving to start the production process.

Today’s agenda includes a walk through the gardens followed by a cooking lesson based on what we gather. This afternoon will be a long walk into the village. In the evening we will have a cannoli lesson followed by dinner and bed…  My kind of day!

Sunday

Sunday morning was not any different than any other day for a local cheese maker.  He and his son get up every morning and milk their 500 sheep (they do it again in the evening) and then make their amazing cheese during the day and we were lucky enough to get to see this. We had a picnic breakfast with some fresh cheese between the steps.  It is so good in this day that there are still people out making products the way their fathers and grandfathers did.

Flights

The flights were interesting coming over.  I got to Charlotte and thru immigration in 5 minutes, but it got worse from there. They had to take all the crew off the ramp because of storms, so baggage was packed with about 10 flights ahead of me that had been stuck waiting for bags.  I had 2 hours and I spent a good 1 1/2 waiting for the luggage to come out. I was lucky enough to just make my flight!

The good news is they got new socks, well at least better colors!

Also they got new bags.  They are actually nice and come with a $75 off coupon for Cole Haan.

I got a good nights sleep and woke up to a nice breakfast in Rome.

The best news was that my luggage arrived with me!  I was excited to use my new passport for the first time…  Only to have only one line open, So much for shorter lines!

All checked in an waiting for my flight to Catania now.
