I am sad to we had to say goodbye to Yabbey this week. She went peaceful at the Cayman Animal Clinic thanks to Dr. Collin on Monday. There have been lots of tears this week and I am sure there are lots more to come.
This is a video of the first day she came to live with me (when her name was still Abby)! She was an amazing friend and she had a wonderful 11+ years with me.
Yabbey has been at the vet now for just over a week. She is in good spirits despite everything when I go to see her. She quit eating and drinking over a week ago and so I took her into se Dr Collin. They gave her fluid and some medicine, but unfortunately that didn’t work and we were back the next day as she was dehydrated. The third day it wasn’t better so they had to admit her and put her on fluids. After a few days on fluids they did a scan and discovered that her lymph nodes were larger than they should be and so was part of her intestine. We made the decision to do the biopsy even though it was a fairly major surgery for her. She made it through the surgery and was looking really well, however during surgery they discovered her liver wasn’t in good shape either. They also put a feeding tube in her neck to force some food into her as she was going on a week without food at that point.
I have been able to spend some time with her most days and se hope to have the test results on Monday so we can figure out how far along the lymphoma is and what type it is as the treatments vary greatly. Unfortunately we will have some big decisions to make next week.
So I have to say we are bad pet owners again. Poor yabbey was out on our balcony yesterday morning and we went off to work forgetting about her! When I came home around 3 she was crying like crazy. The poor kitty didn’t have any water, food or a litter box all day!
Needless to say she is keeping close to me again! 
So this cat is not leaving my side! I let her out in the back patio this morning and forgot she was back there when I went to work. I camr home 9 hours later to her screaming to get let back in the house. Luckily she had water outside!
She has not been more than 2 ft away from me since I let her in!
So yabbey has a favorite place on the back of the couch to sleep on. Unfortunately she smashes it down, so I laid it down flat last night.
Avery is getting quite a bit bigger these days. It is hard to believe she is almost 7 months old!
Miss Yabbey the cat is stuck on my side at all times when I am not in with Avery. I don’t think she likes me paying attention to anyone but her!
Well I have almost made it through my first week of work! I really enjoy the work, so that is helping for sure, but it is still a bit of an adjustment.
As you can see it was a tough week for Yabbey looking after her new fish as well.
