I have been working really hard since I had surgery last year to get back to lifting at the gym. I am very proud to say I am starting to look like a lifter!

Long Run
This morning I completed my longest run in 10+ years! I made it 12 miles in about 2 1/2 hours. Slow and steady… my goal was to just finish and I was feeling really strong until a cramp around mile 10 and the last two miles were pretty painful I have to say.
I was also very lucky to have a great support crew- Richard was there to make sure I had water every few miles!

Off the beaten path
Richard has started the first leg of the race!
Long Run
This morning completed my longest run so far- 10 miles. It was tough mentally to keep going around miles 6 and 7, but it didn’t become tough physically until mile 9… so that is a good sign.

Running Again!
I have been working with the doctors to get some new orthotics post surgery and so I have been able to run a bit. Tonight I ran 5 miles pretty much pain free! I think I am finally starting to heal after surgery!

WHOLE LIFE CHALLENGE
Richard and I about to start on a whole Life challenge on Saturday. You might wonder what exactly is a Whole Life Challenge…
The Whole Life Challenge is an 8-week habit-changing game that challenges you to create happier, healthier lives by making small, daily changes.
We will score points every day, focusing on 7 key areas of health and well-being: Nutrition, Exercise, Mobility, Sleep, Hydration, Lifestyle Practices, and Reflection.
It is not going to be easy, but something I know we can both do!
Big night

Long travel day
The day started out great with a relaxing morning at home, followed by an early arrival in Miami… That is when it all went wrong. When I arrived at the gate there were tons of kids all over the place (as expected with a flight to Orlando). However a key item was missing, our plane. Eventually the plane is pulled out of the maintenance hanger. Turns out the lock on a door was broken. Unfortunately they had the plane fueled for a long flight and with our short flight we would be too heavy to land. So they called the fuel truck to take some of it off. We waited patiently- even most of the kids. However they failed to realize by taking all the fuel from one side the plane would be off balance. So the fuel supervisor had to be called to figure out how to solve the situation… After some discussion it was decided that we should get off the plane while they figured this out. I made my way to let them know I was just going to drive as it is only 3 hours… But there was another flight leaving in 45 minutes with space, so we decided that was my best option… Only problem was I was still listed in the computer as sitting on the plane with the fuel issues… What to do now? We call down to the gate for them to say they have sorted the fuel and are going to be re-boarding. However by the time I get back to the gate it is completely crazy with a mob of people at the counter and clearly they are not re-boarding.
Today’s challenge!
I survived the first of my workouts this morning. As usually barbell club started at 6:30 and we mainly worked on the snatch. I got up to 75 lb and stopped there as I was just feeling a bit tired, but I got in some time on the GHD machine with back extensions and sit ups before getting started on my workout.
Rounds of
30 Burpees
7 Strict pull ups
25 Burpees
6 Strict pull ups
20 Burpees
5 Strict pull ups
15 Burpees
4 Strict pull ups
10 Burpees
3 Strict pull ups
5 Burpees
2 Strict pull ups
All in all it took me 17:31 to complete. The strict pull ups were tough as it was the most I have done in a workout. The workout called for quite a few more L pull ups and I had to sub it for strict pull ups and reduce the number.
I imagine I will have some sore arms in the morning.
