15 Mile Run

Saturday was another long run. I decided to run to Clermont instead of doing an out and back run. Richard, Rich and Cat all came over and met me for lunch then gave me a ride home. The run was slow, but I kept to my heart rate zone most of the run. I hope that the runs get faster, but the good thing is running at that heart rate I didn’t get tired!

Key West 1/2 Marathon

The weather wasn’t looking good (wind and rain).  The first two miles were tough, but I thought it will get better.  I had a slight pain in my knee, but nothing serious.  We reached the southern most point of the U.S. and that is when it really got tough.  With the wind I was either pelted with sand or salt water. The winds had created such rough seas that the water was coming over the sea walls and would pelt you with salty sea water.  If you didn’t get hit with water you had to watch the ground as it was not only wet, but had tons of sea grass on it (which is even more slippery).  It was an out and back course, so most of the next 7-8 miles were like this. By the time we were back in town and had the wind at our back I was just miserable and didn’t even want to run.

What kept me going- Robin’s outdoor runs on peloton and Patricks podcast on embracing the suck.

Positives- Even though it was the worst time for a 1/2 marathon, I did finish and I didn’t let the course beat me.   Definitely one to put in my cookie jar!

New Years Eve

We went out to Market to Table for dinner on New Years Eve and I have to say although the service was great we were disappointed by several of the courses. It was a fixed menu for the night, but had several options for each course.

For starters Richard ordered the salmon and although it tasted nice it was served in a bowl and didn’t have much salmon in it. I ordered the roasted beets with a goat cheese and the beets were not anything special, but the goat cheese was really nice!

For the second course I ordered the crab/shrimp cake and it was really nice, but a little on the small side. Richard ordered lamb and said it was nice.

The main course was really done very well. The lentils were a nice addition to my fish and it had a nice crust on it. Richard ordered chicken and other than it being on the bone it was tasty.

For the final course I ordered the bread pudding and it was just ok, nothing special. Richard made the better choice and ordered the chocolate lava cake…

Overall a nice evening out!

2020 Fitness Summary

I made it a goal in 2020 to improve my health and it has been hard work, but worth it. In March we purchased a Peloton bike and during Covid it was a life saver. Since March 24th I have completed a total of 757 workouts on the Peloton platform and spent 12,331 minutes making myself a healthier person.

  • 352 Cycling
  • 200 Meditation
  • 72 Strength
  • 68 Yoga
  • 53 Stretching
  • 8 Walking
  • 3 Running
  • 1 Cardio (this just confirmed how uncoordinated I am)

Now it is time to start planning for 2021!

Christmas Day

We had a lovely Christmas Day. It started as a relaxing morning at home with the kitties and then we ventured down Bar George for lunch. There were two options for a main and they were both amazing. I went for the sea bass and Richard had the filet. After lunch we quickly headed home as Disney Springs was packed with people. The afternoon involved a nap on the couch with the kitties!
